I was very disappointed in the charges that I received when I brought my vehicle to Dave's for a wheel bearing replacement. I had the same work done at a place in DeMotte for less than half of what Dave's charged me. When I questioned the price I was told that's what it is. Period. Not going there again!
Went to Dave's on the recommendation of a local shop that thought the repair to our BMW X5 was beyond his capabilities. Did not want to make the trip to Schererrville for an out of warranty repair so took a deep breath and drove over. Glad I did. Dave, Dan and Chris were all knowledgeable, friendly, fair, honest, and committed to providing quality work that they stand behind. They are now our "goto" for our personal and company vehicles. This is a class organization run and staffed by honorable people.
On another trip i asked Dave's to replace my low beam headlights in my BMW. They called me to tell me no headlights needed to be replaced. I let them know the daytime running lights were fine but the low beams needed to be replaced. The mechanic looked again and said he found one that needed to be replaced. I figured maybe the other light got bumped and started working again. Got the car back and I still had a headlight out but ended up being charged $70 to replace just one of the lights. Brought it to the BMW dealer afterward and had everything replaced fine there
Have been going to Dave's for a few years, absolutely no complaints. Took my truck in last week with a vibration in the steering wheel. Vibration was present with no motion and in motion. Was told I needed motor mounts. $700 later and not being told that didn't fix my problem, I paid and left. Immediately felt the vibration as I drove away. Wanted to go back and ask WTF but didn't. If they were going to treat me that way, I'll look for a more reputable shop. Very disappointed.
Dave's does quality work at a reasonable price. Got rid of my problem car but will be back w the other car.
Brought in our 2009 Ford Flex before a road trip. Dave's suggested replacing control arms due to worn bushings. I brought it to the local Ford dealer for a second opinion and the dealership said the control arms and bushings were in great shape. Brought it to another mechanic for a third opinion and they also said the control arms were fine. I've read other reviews on Daves and it seems they make a regular practice of recommending work that doesn't need to be done.
I would not recommend Dave's Auto for any work. At best they demonstrate incompetence and at worst they take advantage of their customers to make an extra buck.
