Prepared me very well for college. Can't wait for the remodel to be done and for my kids to go to the same school as their parents. Competitive statewide in most of the extracurriculars.

This has got to be the worst learning environment ever. I can't even begin to describe how awful this situation is. The school is dusty from construction and the amount of chemicals in the air makes it hard to breathe. I swear to God I come home every day with a gosh diddly darn headache from all the toxic fumes in the air and I can't wait to develop lung cancer. THERE IS ASBESTOS IN THIS BUILDING IN WHICH I SPEND MOST OF MY DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK IN, HELLO MESOTHELIOMA. I hate to see what chemicals end up in the cafeteria food, lord help us. The water fountains are toxic and I'm scared to image what I might be drinking. The building smells like smoke every single day. Depending on what hallway you're in it might feel like a sauna or Antarctica because we have no working air conditioning or heating system. We literally do not even have ceiling tiles yet. The power goes out during class, the sound of construction is never ending (yes, even during super important tests), there's so many construction areas to avoid, pipes and light panels fall from the ceiling, there is absolutely no way to feel comfortable, and I'm 100% positive none of this can be safe. So thank you VHS, for making my high school career so memorable.

Honestly, I wish I could rate a 0. I attend classes here every day, and I get bullied constantly. There are no signs saying where construction is and if you should find a way around it,, so you always run a risk of getting harmed. Practically the entire school is a "hard hat zone" but we can't even wear our hoods up. The school is biased towards white, rich, popular girls who are the definition of "Jersey Shore" with fake blonde hair, bad fake tans, and who are so scrawny you would think they were very ill. There is absolutely no tolerance for open LGBTQ+ people (minus one club that most of us are too afraid to say that we attend.) A Hispanic student gets called out regularly in US History. I have seen teachers participate in bullying, I was forced into classes I didn't even need or want. The school is full of chemicals and general hazards, and everything everywhere smells disgusting. Parents, from a student to you, do NOT send your child to VHS.

In my experiences this school is average. The food is okay. The student body is too large to the point where not everyone is acknowledged for their uniqueness and capabilities. Construction is constant, never ending. And there is and always will be consistent NOISE! Jackhammering, wood boards being dropped, and certain hallways are too condensed because they’re covered with wood walls. Some teachers care about the students, some don’t value education at all, some to overhaul projects and assign too many assignments to where you’re on the verge of being broken from stress. I always see other mates coming into class worried about an assignment they forgot, and loudly ruffling through their bag with crumbled papers, and they just can’t accept the amount of work, it’s too much, inordinately assigned. Lastly, heat and ac is inadequate. Too many bags over toilets in the bathrooms as well. One thing I like, is the new use of computers this year, but WiFi is either working or connection is unstable most of the school day, which annoys me because I’ve been that student that has to go up to the teachers podium to ask for help or a paper copy of everything because of WiFi issues. To me this school is functioning like one belonging to the Cps district.
